Waking up the morning of August 9th and hearing about the Lahaina and Kula fires, Nichole and Michael went into action, trying to get help to our friends on the West Side. We started with our Venmo on social media, and we soon realized creating a non profit was the next avenue in order to receive the help we need. "This is going to be a marathon, not a sprint," says Michael. Our non profit, Johnson Ohana Maui Fire Relief Foundation was founded just 2 weeks after the Maui Fires ravaged our beautiful island of Maui. Nichole and Michael Johnson saw the immediate need for "boots on the ground" to help our Ohana's in need of supplies, and assistance.
Our team is made up of dedicated volunteers to help the victims of the Maui wildfires with assistance, supplies, and support by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Our team is made up of dedicated volunteers to help the victims of the Maui wildfires with assistance, supplies, and support by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. "All of our Ohana has been going since day one, either giving their time, purchasing supplies, driving the supplies over, and organizing community efforts" Michael states. Nichole, a RN specializing in so many nursing facets was called to action to help at the Kahului War Memorial Shelter with victims needing assistance with various medical conditions. "It was one of the toughest days Ive had in a long time", she states. "So many stories of heartbreak, and terror while facing 70-80 mph winds ripping through neighborhoods and Front st."
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission.
